Kirstie Alley in a Bikini on Oprah
Kirstie Alley has had a very visible weight reduction using Jenny Craig. She recently went on Oprah Winfrey’s show and was willing to wear a bikini for the cameras. She actually looks amazing and I find her bravado inspiring.
Whether Jenny Craig is any better than eating whole, fresh food in moderate portions is another story, but kudos to Kirstie for being willing to show off her newly toned body.

I find insulting for other women to compare themselves to Kristie when she weighs more than she says she does. I weigh and measure women every day, and the only way she weughs only 145 is if she is 4’10.

She looks great, but I don’t know if I’m into the idolizing a person because she lost weight thing. oi.
Treon, what are you talking about? How much do you think she weighs? I think she looks like she is about 5’9 and weighs 145 pounds.

I have to agree. She looks like she weighs at least 180 lbs. If she is 5’9″ and 145 those thighs would be much slimmer. I think it is great that she decided to make an effort to lose weight, but I think she is blatantly fibbing about her beginning weight (220) and her weight now. I think she still has a good 30 lbs to go.

Hi:
I’ve always had a crushed on Kirstie, not matter what her weight was. She looks fantastic in that bikini. People have made comments about her thighs, well in my eyes they’re close to pefect, just like her.

While I don’t wear bikini’s in public. I think Kristie looks great. I don’t think she has 30 to go even if she isn’t 145. Maybe we get so used to seeing emanated models we can’t tell people’s weight anymore. Women are supposed to be 25% body fat and some body fat is good. Also women body shapes are diff I am rather shoert but I look slimmer at 145 than some women look at 119. When I weighed 112 with a big of 21 I looked like I had a BMI of under 18 and was told I was medically under body fat even though I was at a healthy weight.

As someone in the medical field I know exactly what “emaciated” looks like. Kirstie is no where near the danger zone of emaciated. If Kirstie would lose at least another 20-30 lbs by exercising and lifting weights she would look healthy and athletic. Right now she is still definitely overweight (notice I said “overweight” not obese). I just think she should be honest about her weight.

I think Kirstie looks awesome now. I do find myself questioning her STARTING weight, especially. I think at 5’9″, she certainly looked like she weighed more than 225….and I’m not so sure that she weighs 145-150 now.
But I agree that she looks GREAT and what a refreshing change from the clothes hangers that otherwise grace all publications and television.

I’m 5’4 and when I work out every day and weigh 137 I fit in a size 4. I think that if she’s four inches taller than me and 8 pounds heavier, there is something very wrong — either with me or with her. I know what I weigh and what size I fit into, and I’m very toned and fit. I think that she is lying about her weight and it does do a disservice to other women because for me, I felt very outraged that she would lie about that. I work hard to be in shape. That would be like me saying that I weigh 110 when I weigh 137 and then telling people who say it’s not true that there’s something wrong with them.

I believe she’s telling the truth about her weight if she was’nt I’m sure she be in court fighting a legal battle. If you look at her bone mass its rather large which she will appear larger

While it’s far from impossible that she is choosing to “fudge” her real weight figures, it is no myth that the camera gives an illusion of greater weight. I know a number of TV presenters (both male and female) who look to be of average size on television but are almost skeletal in person. They have strangers who meet them remark on it all the time (“I didn’t realise how skinny you are). You just might want to keep that in mind… Grab an average person the same size as you and put them on television, and you are sure to think they are much fatter than you are. It’s really no wonder so many celebrities end up with eating disorders. Wouldn’t surprise me if she is erring on the size of smaller numbers, but if so it is unlikely to be out as much as you think it is. On top of this anyone who comes down to that weight form a much larger one in such a small period of time is bound to have sacrified muscle as well as fat… The result being (since muscle weighs more than fat) she is bound to “take up more space” then someone who has been around 145 their whole life and not had to lose a significant amount of weight to get there, as they’ll likely have more heavy muscle mass than she does shown here.

I think what most of you don’t realize is that the camera adds 20-30 lbs. I’ve seen a lot of celebs up close and they all look like a size 4 or even some look like a size 0 but on tv and the movies, they look like they might wear a 6 or 8….

I know this is a very old post. But since my last post is about Bikini I wanted to comment here. Wearing bikini on a public place is actually a choice and I adore the ones who dare them self by doing so. But specially for Kirstie case, woaw she just looks great doesn’t she?
