PostSecret: After 4 Years of Eating Healthy
It appears that anorexia is just as hard to deal with as bingeing. This postcard from PostSecret reminded me that I’m not cured of my bingeing, I just manage it. Every Day…

I like you have to deal with binge eating. Right now I am on program but have to deal with it daily. Thank you for posting this. Many people don’t realize how hard it is for Anorexics. I think Anorexia is actually harder than binge eating because true Anorexia is a mental disorder. I saw a report that Anorexics can here voices.
There actually many obese Bulimics who are obese because of the binge aspects of this disorder. Sometimes people are making fun of someone for being fat they are actually making fun of them for having an eating disorder. People are fat for different reasons.

With any food addiction/binge eating/eating disorders, etc, swearing off certain food/foods is the easy part of recovery. The hard part is living happily ever after. Abstention will not automatically make your life better; a better life will come only with time, patience and hard work.
I pray that the person who sent in the post card learns from their relapse and drop everything and concentrate on recovery.

I suffer with both bulimia and anorexia. It’s a very difficult addiction to overcome. I’ve spent most of the last year in a hospital but I am doing much better now, and I think I have a chance at getting better and staying better.

Hello, I was wondering if you saved the card that states “I think I look perfect, but everyone else cries when they hug me” Such a beautiful card. Something I do a lot– I’m hugging her, but really I’m checking to see what drugs she did, if she’s eating, who she smells like.. and generally if she’s taking care of herself. Many thanks. –Oswaldo

Did you ever find the card? I’d like to show it in a class on Food and Gender that I am teaching
