Slim Fast Superbowl Commercial

This commercial for Slimfast aired during the Superbowl this year. In some respects, I like it because it shows normal sized woman being vibrant and dancing happily. In others, it just makes me want to throw up my hands.

Slim Fast Nutrition FactsThe commercial brags that Slimfast now has more protein to keep you full for four hours. At 180 calories and 5 grams of fat, I could keep myself full for eight hours if I ate real food. Plus, I get to crunch real apples and vegetables.

Here are some suggestions of what to eat instead of a Slim Fast Shake:

Apple: 65 calories, 0g fat, 3g fiber
Cheddar Cheese 1 oz.: 114 calories, 9g fat, 0g fiber
Total: 179 calories, 9g fat, 3g fiber

Celery Sticks 2 medium stalks: 12 calories, 0g fat, 2g fiber
Reduced Fat Peanut Butter 2 Tbsp: 147 calories, 10g fat, 1g fiber
Total: 159 calories, 10g fat, 3g fiber

You can even have a frozen dinner from Lean Cuisine for a similar count of calories:

STOUFFER’S LEAN CUISINE Homestyle Stuffed Cabbage with Meat in Tomato Sauce and Whipped Potatoes: 199 calories, 6g fat, 6g fiber
Total: 199 calories, 6g fat, 6g fiber

There are so many options out there that gulping down a Slim Fast shake seems pointless to me unless you find yourself craving them.

    I thought it was just me thinking I would prefer to eat than drink down those calories. And your definately right. I can keep myself from being hungry for a lot longer on the same amount of calories and enjoy a crunch or two while doing it 🙂

    funny,true story. my friend asked me how he could lose some weight. of course he didnt like the answer of eat less and exercise, so I told him to do the slim fast thing. 1 in the AM, 1 in the noon time then a regular meal before 6 PM, no snacking afterward. during our training sessions I’d ask if he was still doing the slimfast, he said yes and I left it at that. well after a month of this routine, I asked again. He was quite pissed, saying he has gained weight and I’m an idiot for suggesting slimfast. I asked if he had been following the routine strictly. he said 1 in the morning,1 in the afternoon and a regular meal at night. iasked about snacking, he said no,none. I was really confused,cause I know it should have worked. I asked if he was using the mix or the pre-mixed candrinks. he told me the mix. so I asked are you using milk or water? he replied that he was using 2% milk.then he added “it tastes like crap so I add two scoops of blue bell dutch chocolate and some hersheys syrup to make it taste good”. I still laugh at him,years later.
