FDA Clears Syneron VelaSmooth for Cellulite Treatment
The FDA has approved a machine that is supposed to provide a “temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite.” They tout it as a safer alternative to liposuction.
It all sounds like hype to me. I don’t want to pay my doctor for anything that is temporary and only changes the appearance of my legs. My biggest problem is getting to my ideal weight. When I’m there, if I still have cellulite, I’m not going to care. The goal is to be healthy. If I am at a healthy weight and I still have cellulite, then I’ve achieved my goal.
So many companies are trying to profit from our insecurities. There are creams and machines, loofahs and exercise balls. While these things might make you feel better about the situation, they are just placebos. A good massage could make you feel just as beautiful and empowered.
I hope that the FDA will be watching this company and the doctors who use them very closely, just waiting for them to do something illegal. Don’t be a victim. Let them experiment on someone else.

I just wanted to say that there’s nothing wrong with paying for something temporary. The gym membership gives you temporary results if you stop going! Just like this, if you stop, the Cellulite will come back…but once you know what it’s like to not have the Cellulite you will almost pay more than you would’ve in the beginning… It’s very frustrating when you work out alot and still have ugly dimples on your legs and butt… Also…you are not paying a doctor NEARLY as much as you would pay for lipo… and please do your reasearch because this machine uses a light therapy with Endermology which was invented nearly 20 years ago and was the first FDA approved treatment to effectively reduce the appearance of cellulite… even though they do not use the word Endermologie because of copyright reasons it still is the same idea with the added light therapy. How can you say in short Don’t be a victim…waiting for something illegal… When if you would do your research you would see that it is really not that new at all…just a new combination of things already around.
It’s important to feel beautiful and not be insecure…yet there’s nothing wrong with improving the way you look even if it’s just temporary…

Its all personal choice. I started Velasmooth because I was getting massages for nearly 9 months to try to help improve my circulation, even though I am a runner. I’ve had 5 treatments and my legs feel so much better for hours afterwards. And if it helps my cellulite so much the better. I can get it cheaper as I am in Dublin Ireland compared to in the States. Dont know why its cheaper here since everything else is so expensive.

I can say that I have had great results with the Velasmooth. I do work out 6 times a week and eat very good, but have been doing this for years. The Velasmooth is not an excude to eat cheeseburgers. Everything is temporary…face lifts, lipo, and even a breast augmentation. Maintanance is required for everything, even weigh loss. You can’t except the Velasmooth or any other modality to be an instant miracle for cellulite that has been present for many years.
