Janet Jackson Weight Loss
The title on the US Weekly magazine said, “How I Got Thin.” Janet Jackson’s belly button stared back at me as I picked up the magazine. Do you want to know how Janet Jackson got thin? She ate less and exercised.
That’s about all I learned from that article.
Her diet consisted of meals sent to her every day and her exercise consisted of workouts with her trainer. She just did what the experts told her to do without cheating and she lost weight.
I thought to myself, “That’s useless advice for those of us who don’t have private chefs and personal trainers. What are we supposed to do?”
EXACTLY THE SAME THING.
I just need to do what the experts tell me to do and I’ll lose the weight.
Let’s face the facts. I KNOW what I need to do. I need to eat less calories than I expend. There are enough tools out there to tell me exactly what I need to eat to lose weight. There are enough websites out there telling me exactly what exercises I need to do. There is little doubt in my mind what I need to do to lose weight.
The hard part is doing what the experts tell me to do.
Getting different experts doesn’t help. They are either crackpots or they tell me the exact same thing, over and over. There are no exceptions.
Next time you’re feeling jealous of some celebrity because they lost a lot of weight using some expensive plan, remember. You can do it to if you’re willing to do exactly what the experts tell you to do.
Update 06-03-07: Janet has kept the weight off for a year. See more here:
I’m pretty inspired by her.

I agree COMPLETELY with everything you say, but don’t you agree that it is easier on these celebrities because it’s all handed to them on a silver platter.
No chopping, cutting, bagging, writing down, calculating, etc. Not to mention they have someone there to pick them up in the limo to go to the gym, or better yet, the handsome trainer (ie, motivation) coming to their doorstep to personally drag them down to the basement, to the fully equipped gym.
I’m not saying that they don’t work hard, not at all. Janet didn’t get that way by someone actually doing it for her, what she did took a WHOLE lot of work. But for the love of all that’s good, some days I would rather stick a needle in my eye as chop up another darn veggie or walk in the rain because I can’t afford a gym membership.
God love her for the motivation, the fact that YES, IT CAN BE DONE. Heaven knows I needed motivation today, but it gets hard some days without a physical push from someone. (and the dog could really give a flip about my diet, she has become increasingly bored to death with walking).
So, yes, you are more than correct by saying that we can ALL accomplish getting into the shape that these celebrities do….but I also believe that it isn’t as easy for the rest of us, because WE have to do all the “leg work” that’s involved.

She looks great. A lot of people choose pre-portioned meals with rich get a chef or one of those diets that are mostly meal sellers. Some figure out their caloeries and buy frozen dinners and veggies. I am glad I did the cooking weighing and measuring it helps me learn more.

Yeah, I think the personal trainer coming to their doorstep would help out a lot too… The only problem is they usually cost a ton and I’ve never had the funds for something like that. I’ve found that working out along to something (or someone) has always proven the best results becuase you are not inclined to cheat or get distracted. You can have a personal trainer, with a fraction of the cost if you look into other options. I’m trying a program called PUSH right now and really like it. I have the trainer from the biggest loser tv show and he has personalized the DVD workouts into a new routine each month (it comes in the mail). Anyway -while I don’t look like Janet yet, atleast I am on the right track- and totally agree that it’s all about eating right (not less) and working out — just finding the right outlet for working out has been the key 🙂

WOW….SHE LOOKS GREAT!!! i was there 9 months ago…and currently lost 82 lbs in 9 mtns.when i started (211 lbs )my life was a mess.i joined the gym without personal trainer or personal cheff.it wasnt easy at first cuz most of the people there were fit and they give u that””” look”””.anyways i started easy ….walking on treadmill 45 min …6 days a week.then eleptical 60 min 4time s a week .did not know how 2 use weights so i just did my cardio.first month lost 10 lbs .:)i started feeling better about myself .my meals were small 4-5 times a day.no pasta,no bread ,no potatoes.(no eating after 7 pm) eating right is 60% of success.after tryed aerobic classes 3-4 times a week.it was great challenge for my body and i started seeing better results. now happier then ever still working out 5-6 times a week/cardio only i feel great and confident about my body. u dont have to be janet to get there….wish best all of you…

I truly understand everyone’s comments in regards to not having etc.., based on finances, but. And yes, there is a, but if you lived the same lifestyle you would have the same perks and bonuses as well. That’s the beauty of having money. Now, you can simply use the tools that they use and make it your own. You should motivate yourself to want to get into shape. Janet on the other hand has to get into shape to sell records because image is everything in the entertainment world. Now, I don’t want to blow my own horn, however, I go to the gym 6 days a week, cardio, weight training and yoga. I watch what I eat and I never eat late. If I do get hungry late at night like a lot of people do, I drink a protein drink because actually that’s what your body is craving, “protein” not “carbs” or “sugars”. Eat salads before all meals, have little healthy snacks throughout the day and make working out fun. A place to let all the stress out from a 9 to 5 or maybe stress in your daily life. Instead of being depressed, be in shape. You can either make complaints or make results; it’s simply up to you.

Denise,
I want to hear more (as I sit here and eat a Chocolate Ice Cream Bar) I want to know where I can buy some Will Power? I know how to diet and all the rules blah blah blah but… for some reason this year I have absolutely no will Power. I know I have to be in a swimsuit next weekend and still I have no Will Power. Is it because my disc is bulging & the pain pills are slowing everything down or is it because my body is trying to stay at this weight(and I’m always hungry) or is it that I’m simply doomed to a life of chub? Can’t exercise anymore because of my back and frankly today I don’t care but by Friday I will be crying because it will be swim suit show time and I look like a beached whale. What happened to the hot, toned ma ma of 20 years ago? Can I get her back? Please tell me it’s not to late? I have 4 1/2 days to get thin. OMG. Janet were are you? I need your training and your chef and your … and your… and your…

My sister had a personal trainer at over $600 per month. Her trainer had the same name as her ex-boyfriend who she was still in love with. Hearing her trainer saying her name over and over again along with the words “you can do it” helped her lose a lot of weight……..When done, she was beautiful, healthy looking, no flab, and great muscle tone everywhere. Sorry to say that once the training stopped the weight slowly came back. She is bigger now then when she started training.
She does not believe in reading self-help books which I think was her downfall.

Tamera- I don’t think there is anything that can make you drop all the weight in four days. Weight loss is a process.
Seeing the dramatic drop is Miss Jackson’s weight made me think of eating disorders. 60 pounds in 4 months is 15 pounds a month or 3.75 pounds a week. That isn’t healthy, experts recommend only 1-2 pounds a week. And to keep those sort of numbers high and consistant would take a lot of effort.
It may not be the case but it is a possibility.

I hate to break it to her (Janet that is)… she’s gonna gain it back. You can’t lose weight by cutting calories, not like that. It messes with your metabolism because now her body thinks she is starving to death. Burn the fat through cardio and building muscle mass with only a slight calorie deficit…about 10 percent of what your body needs to maintain. Sure its slower…but I get to eat 1800 to 2100 calorie a day AND lose body fat and gain muscle. End result….40 years old, stronger, leaner, healthier, than I was at 18, and I eat like a horse. No low carb, yes….easy on the fat, but I stil get some, almonds, olive oil, avocados, and lots of good healthy protein. It’s that simple. Poor Janet….she’s gonna continue to struggle…she’s gonna get fat again.
June 16th, 2006 at 1:23 pm
it is wondeful to see Oprah & Cher gain weight.they have money and chefs.if you’re fat with a personal chef you got problems.
June 17th, 2006 at 2:31 pm
She does look beautiful. She worked hard and paid to have some of the fat sucked out. I wish she would have left her face alone. She was perfect before the plastic surgery.
July 1st, 2006 at 8:03 pm
Janet’s weight loss is not that phenomenal. And I hate to break it to you, but she probably did not lose 3.75 pounds per week, she probably lost initial water weight quickly and then began to lose the recommended 2 pounds or so per week. Don’t be so quick to judge. She had a solid routine and lost the weight. The meal plans are not that expensive and a personal trainer can appear on your DVD player daily. Heck you can even switch up and have several trainers 🙂 Don’t get discouraged, anyone can lose the weight in a healthy way. What is more amazing to me is how toned her body is at 40 – that takes a lot more effort. The truth is, once you give up the idea of quick weight loss, buckle down and do the work, you will lose. Good luck to all!
July 11th, 2006 at 5:28 pm
whatt was the diet and excersise she did? I tried to obtain a magazine (us weekly ) but, they were all sold out…anyone able to help? c
July 11th, 2006 at 10:03 pm
I think Janet looks absolutely amazing! In fact, rumors have it that she is much slimmer than she has ever been.
I must say that Janet being on the US Magazine cover gave me some motivation to get serious with my weight loss endeavors. I am currently following a plan in the “Biggest Loser Book”; a must buy in my personal opinion. Having followed every diet gimmick you can think of, I find this plan realistic and easy to follow. To date I have lost 10 pounds and feel motivated to reach my goal of losing 20-30 pounds.

The thing about cultivating motivation & maintaining teh desire is a tricky one. What I have personally found is that when I decided to lose weight for myself & not for my partner or for reasons ‘oustide’ of myself, the weight began to come off much more easily & almost effortlessly. The other thing I started to do was to think to myself, ‘Do I really wish to continue feeling tired & not being able to wear the clothes I love to wear & not being able to feel comfortable going out dancing or to the beach etc…’ This lead me to work out for 30 minutes at least 5 times a week. If it was too cold outside I would work out while the Simpson’s were on or while listening to music which gets one in the mood for intense exercise. I found that 30 minutes wasn’t long enough & soon it was an hour. Like Janet I hate to work out but can gain weight easily. So I too mix up my exercise routine because it keeps my mind engaged & I find that I am more apt to remain interested in my regimine. I highly recommend a balance ball for abs. I also cannot recommend yoga enough. If you think you don’t have the money then I have a few ideas. First, check with your local yoga studio & ask if they offer work-trade. Many studios will offer free classes in exchange for working reception for them. And to get a balance ball, hand weights, exercise DVD’s/videos & other exercise equipment join your local Freecycle Organization on (Yahoo Groups) or check out Craigslist in your area. Also, counting calories worked wonders. I don’t obsess about it or weigh my food but read a lot about calories (I especially find paying attention to glycemic index factors works wonders) this also expedites the weight loss. I also find that doing occasional juice fasts like the Lemonade Diet (the ‘master Cleanse’ which Robin Quivers successfully used to regain good health & lose weight) or box kit cleansing fast like a colon cleanse (the kind they sell at Whole Foods) also takes my bodys’ weight loss efficiency up a notch. If your liver is clogged & your kidneys aren’t functioning optimally – it will take much longer to lose weight. Medicines, sugar, alcohol, fatty foods, chemicals in food etc…all adversely affect our livers & kidneys so cleanses assist in amazing ways. Finally, stay positive, kind & loving with yourself. Stress, depression, low self-esteem (I believe) can often work against a weight loss program. While some people lose weight when they are sad & depressed – others gain weight. Exercising outside or with a partner are other ways to increase motivation & to feel better about the process. Sharing your thoughts & desires about your health & weight loss program doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. If you belong to a gym post a wanted: partner ad on the cork board in the ladies’ locker room. Or post an Ad on your communities’ Freecycle or Craigslist. I never thought I would look forward to a morning run or bike 20 miles but I do! Anyone can be successful in creating the physical body they desire. However, it begins in the mind & soul of the individual – not their bank account.
Happiness, Good Health & Prosperity to All

I have always admired Janet Jackson for her drive and dedication to do what is necessary to be a good performer. She’s incredible! As far as the extreme weight loss – well, let’s face it, it takes a lot of “control” – no pun intended to succeed. In my struggle for weight control, the time I lost 70 lbs. I did it walking 5 miles a day, 6 days a week and eating little more than on salad a day for approximately 3 months. Not only did I not keep the weight off, but I nearly collapsed trying. Yes, Janet the luxury of having someone that can make meals for her, but she also has the media’s eye on her every pound loss or pound gained.
August 7th, 2006 at 11:46 pm
Janet looks great and I’m glad she made a personal decission to lose weight and stuck by it. I think sticking to a diet and workout plan has to do with your “attitude”. If you’re not serious about losing weight you may as well forget about it and sit and let the fat accumulate away. Doesn’t matter whether you have a personal trainer or not or even if you can afford a gym or not. There are a lot of workouts you can do in the comfort of your home without equipment and I think basic education in school informs us of what foods are bad or good for us, no calculations needed. Just your attitude, if you set your mind to it “nothing is impossible.” So well done Janet.

Hello. I’m sorry for the rant– but this has been on my mind for a while.
I am happy for people when they reach a goal. I think if you want to lose weight and work out, then more power to you. But as I read, I get the sinking feeling that we celebrate being thin in of itself. I think Janet Jackson is a wonderful singer and is lucky to have turned out as well as she did with her family situation. The amount of weight you lose is not proportional to how good of a person you are. Regardless of your weight, what really matters in life is the way you treat others and the way you treat yourself. If you feel that you need to lose weight (perhaps for health reasons), that is great. But, don’t measure your selfworth on a number on the scale. It seems as though some women and men hide behind baggy clothes when the are “bigger”. Stop hiding! Wear clothes that make you feel good about yourself! Don’t feel as though you have to hide your body– show off your assets! Wearing clothes that make me comfortable is better than losing weight. I am struggling over my own issues with weight. I am looking toward other things that make me feel better about myself– wearing cute clothes and wearing makeup. I feel better and in reality, no one notices that my BMI is technically in the “overweight” category. I’m starting not to care– I try to be “good” but allow myself to be “bad” sometimes. It’s OK. If you feel like you’re out of control– either way.. binging or restricting– then ask for help. It’s OK to do that too.
Best to all of you! Find your power within yourself– not just the outer layer.

Janet looks great!! I have noticed that lots of people here have stated that her weight loss is contributed to having money to afford a personal chef, trainer, etc. BUT anyone regardless of how much money you have/don’t have can lose the weight. Its about making up in your mind that you are going to do it. It’s about watching what you put into your body, portion control and working out. With all of the workout videos and the fitness programs on tv anyone can have their own personal trainer(o:
Janet gained all that weight for a movie role which she ultimately decided not to take so she had to get her body in gear to lose it, which is all any of us have to do!!
August 25th, 2006 at 11:04 am
Janet does look great, but she’s been down this road before. Remember how quickly she slimmed down during the “Rhythm Nation” album promotion? The earlier videos have her completed covered in dark clothes, then when the final single (“Love Will Never Do”) was released, she’d lost enough weight to appear in the video in a midriff-baring outfit. But then she gained a bunch of weight back. Then lost it for “The Velvet Rope.” Gained it back. Etc etc. It’s not a healthy lifestyle to only diet and exercise maniacally to lose a lot of weight fast when you’ve got a string of public appearances coming up.
August 27th, 2006 at 6:22 pm
I am at work right now so I wanted to see if Janet had any insights… then I saw all these replies and now am thinking, if we all got out from in front of the computer and went outside for a walk we would all be on our way to losing weight. I think Janet worked hard to get where she is and if we all do the same we can do it as well. It’s the difference between a french fri and a peach… we all know what is good and bad for us. If you want to eat bad you are going to look bad… if you want to look good then eat what is good (FOR YOU). Measure everything by your hand. Proportions are out of control these days. Everything you eat should be spaced on your plate. Hold your hand over your portion- it should be the size of your palm. Or better yet, fill up a side plate. You dont have to deprive yourself of anything… EAT it, SAVOR it, and STOP. Drink water… walk…when walking gets to easy, then step it up… we can all be thin it just takes the first step… That’s right… ready… get up and move!!

I am a mother of two. We all know that eating the correct foods including: vegetables and lean meat. And exercise, is what makes us loose weight and get the results we want with our bodies. I know we all look for motivation in Hollywood. But what is our motivation? Look at your children, do not teach them unhealthy eating habits. If we could only eat the way we want or teach our children to eat. Do not eat out of depression, take them for a walk or a mini football game; teach the girls a fun dance. Lets not teach our children what we have been doing. Maybe that is what is going to help us in the end.

I am a personal trainer. It’s impossible to lose 60 lbs in 4 months on diet and exercise alone.Safely is 2 lbs a week. You do the math.I dont buy it,she can preach all she wants I know the body.
September 29th, 2006 at 5:45 pm
I wish that I could lose weight once and for all. Back in December, I got serious with my diet. I lost 35 pounds by April. I went from 177 to 145. I have gained 20 pounds back. It is very hard to maintain weight loss. Why, because you get tired of not eating what everyone else eats. I am a huge yo-yo dieter. I can lose 6 pounds on one of my plans on Saturday and Sunday. I’ll eat a 1200 calorie diet Monday. By Wednesday, I’m buying candy in the store. If I overeat a little bit, I feel that I have completely ruined my diet. Then I eat more and more. I give up. Also when I get lonely, I eat. I hate this diet war! I need so much help. I have paid so much money for supplements for weight loss. I have also paid money at weight loss centers. I’m sure I have spent $5000 on weight loss since 2003 (the year that I really got serious, when my highest weight was 240, after the birth of my son) How Janet lost 60 in 4 months? I think she really did. But, I’m sure she didn’t have to report to work anywhere on a daily basis. She probably worked out for 2-3 hours or longer at a time in the morning, and then some more in the evening. Now, I think I am obsessed about losing weight. I still workout, about 5 days a week. I even lift weights on my lunch hour. But, I eat like a pig most days of the week. I hope that I finally succeed one day, once and for all.

I am very happy for Janet. I saw her on the Oprah Winfrey show and she is really looking good. I’m sorry to have read what the personal trainer had to say. (Don’t hate on Janet) She worked very hard to get where she’s at. I know for a fact that you can lose what she lost doing what she did. I did it. And I did not have a personal trainer or a chef. It takes commentment. I had a few friends that would call me everyday for support. I ate 5 meals a day and walked the treadmill for 30 minutes every morning. So this do work. I lost 55 1bs in three months. And I still workout everyday for 15 minutes. Have not gained any weight back. I watch my calories. I did this for health reasons. I am diabetic and a couple of years ago I had a kidney transplant. This is the best I ever felt in my life. Anyone can do it.
October 4th, 2006 at 10:35 am
This is for I D Clare:
You lost 55lbs in 3 months? What were you eating and how many calories were you eating per day?
October 6th, 2006 at 6:29 am
Hello Jada, 1000 calories or less per day. 8 am I ate a breakfast bar 90 cal, 10a I ate some nonfat yogurt 80 cal, 12noon I ate a salad w/chicken breast no skin and non fat dressing, 2p I ate non-fat yogurt, between 5-6pm I ate salad w/baked fish or skinless chicken breast with non fat dressing. Plenty of water all day and specially after 6pm. I did not consume anything after 6 but water. I walked the treadmill for 30 minutes every morning and some evenings when my schedule would permit it. Once you get started, it becomes a habit. I look at food as something I need for survival only. I feel 100% better. I take less med’s now. I’m not trying to be like anyone, I just want to be healthy so I can live longer.

Well Amen Sisters! I have taken 30 min to read everybodys blogs….I feel for the swimsuit girl, almost believed michelle and took notes from Paulette. I can’t afford a chef or 600 bucks for a personal trainer and Ive never seen self motivation for sale. My plan: I start intervewing dvd trainers and researching calorie counting, I’m pumping up the tires on the ol bike and taking a Yoga class. My days are full and often hetic. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: In the time it took for me to read and write this blog I could have already met w/ my vitural trainer, rode my bike and been home to wake up my kids. Okay peoples, I am 5’4, 190 ( had a baby 5 months ago ). TODAY is my day…next website…Craigs list for some hand weights, balance ball and hopefully my own DVD Trainer. Reading this site started the fire under my A– !

What Janet did is very possible. I am 22 years old, 5’2″, and two weeks ago I weighed 150lbs. I started running every morning, in the beginning it was 3/4 of a mile and two weeks later – I’m jogging 2.5 miles. I count points (weight watchers). I make sure that I eat 5 servings of vegetables/fruit, 2 servings of dairy, and drink all the water I can. I also take my multi-vitamin every morning. In two weeks I was able to lose 10 pounds! It is very possible – I am living proof. I am super broke and that is why I don’t go to the Weight Watchers meetings, but I follow the program on my own! Losing weight is all about self control. I am surrounded all day with free food…it is so hard to be broke and turn down free food! But I do it…and I am getting compliments all day about how good I look and that’s just from losing 10 pounds! The initial 10 pounds I lost was probably water weight…but I am okay with weighing myself this friday and only losing the normal two pounds. I am so excited to think that by the New Year, I will be down to the size I want to be while every one else is making their New Year’s resolution! It’s exciting! So the personal trainer who said it is not possible to lose that weight in that amount of time…needs to be re-educated! If there is anyone who wants to ask me questions or make comments – you can also e-mail me at stokerm@sostechnical.com!

I’m eating 4 – 5 small meals per day (1400 cal) and excercising each day (30 min) and it’s working. I agree with others, that it would be easier if others were preparing these meals, keeping track of calories, and inspiring me at each workout. It goes without saying that it’s easier with a cheerleading team, and people to take the tedious nature of the process out!!

I’m glad for the people who went to the gym 6 days a week for an hour and cooked their meals all day and lost weight. But it’s hard if you have a job, go to school, have a child, etc. It’s hard to find the time at times. I come home from work, then have college work to do, then after that i’m tired. I’m very motivated to drop pounds but I just wish i had more time.

When I was in my senior year of high school, (Im now 23) I weighed 250 lbs.and 5’8″ tall, LARGE bone structure. I lost 80lbs. in 5 months. I’d like to say I did it the healthy way, but I did and I didn’t. I took the ephedrine based dietary supplements, cut my calorie intake to 800-1000 a day and had no more than 10 grams of fat. I still ate alot, but I drank more water and filled my stomach with that. I had 2 gym classes PER day. So it was about 60 minutes of SOLID excersice 5 days per week. It melted off so quickly, it was unbelieveable. My doctor said it wasnt the healthiest way to do it, but he didnt even BOTHER trying to stop me. I was at a much greater risk being 250lbs, than I was restricting my calorie intake as I had been. 5 years later, I’m still in the 170-175lb range, and believe it or not, doctor said I shouldnt lose anymore weight because of my structure it would not proove healthy. So, I stick with this weight, and still work out 3-4 days a week and hour a day. My calorie intake is 1500-1700 per day and I watch everything I eat. Thats how I’ve kept it off. Its a lifelong change.. If you only do it long enough to lose the weight, a year later you will find yourself in larger pants…

I can 100% agree with everything everyone has said. I have the issue from June, and I tried to make some sense of her diet so I could try to follow the same guidelines. However, it only gives you two examples of her meals. That’s not really much help. I did find an article in the November 2006 Self that has an exercise that’s really neat. If you also go to Self.com, you can view the video of the workout so you’ll know what to do. I thought it was neat. The best part, you can do it while watching your favorite 30 minute show. I love it so far. With all the diets out there, it’s so hard to find the right one for each person. The South Beach diet is working well for me, if you have the time to cook the meals and prepare the food. Good luck to all.

I think Janet did a great job. I hired a personal trainer, ofcourse its very expensive, but think of it as an investment. They teach you everything you need to lose and keep that weight off for the rest of you life. I’m loosing 2 pounds steady every week. By doing this i can lose a total 45 pounds in 4 months. Well, maybe 4 and a half. Consistensy in exersising and eating right is the main key to a succes. Good luck to all of you!!!

I completely agree that it might be easier when things are right there but if you don’t want it bad enough in your heart then it won’t matter because you have to still be determined to work out and eat better. you have to make personal decisions to eat this or not eat this or work out, even when you don’t feel like it. It wasn’t given to Janet Jackson, she worked her ass off and earned it.

I worked on a video about Janet last year, and as I remember, she had the usual hi protein, low carbs, low fat diet, and did 45 minutes of exercise daily, usually outdoors, say on the beach. Sometimes with her trianer, sometimes not. (She says she hates exercise, so she has to come up with tricks to make herself do it — you have to love that!)
She also allowed herself to eat a desert or something like french fries once-a-week, on Sundays. She said she did tht to stay sane 😉
I have a much smaller goal (10-15 pounds) but it’s my own fault that I haven’t motivated to do the exercise, or make the minor dietary adjustmants (I already eat pretty well, but could be better.)
I applaud Janet for her hard work. Jackson or not, she’s a self-made person who is not easy on herself. I say that not as a fan (since I wasn’t, initially), but as someone who had to learn about her from differing viewpoints for a documentary.

I agreed its no secret tht weight loss comes simply from BETTER EATING HABITS AND EXERCISE. You don’t need a gourment chef or a gym. If you run everyday and buy some dumb bells at the gym you are fine. Its not hard to grill chicken and make tasteful salads. There are so many resources available online.
HOWEVER I disagreed about how some people say that it’s easier for celebrities. I think being under that much pressure you stand up to it or buckle. Plus celebrities are under so much more temptations. I live in LA and there are a million fantastic 4 star restaurants and yummy hole in the wall places. If you are on a movie set they cater all the food! You are constantly attending parties (alcohol has so many hidden cals). I think there is a lot more temptation so the will power of a celebrity is amazing!

May 15, 2007: To Janet Jackson, How about giving us the details of your exercises for 30 days and exactly what you ate for 30 days. Give us an idea of what exercises, lengths, frequency, and time used that you did for 30 days. Give us an idea of what you ate each day and the portions you were given. We don’t have lots of money to hire a personal trainer and a personal chef, but we can afford to do some exercises on our own and prepare our own meals. Thanks, Kimberly of Jacksonville, FL.

The hardest part of Jane’ts accomplishment is that the OLDER you get, tthe more you value comfort over appearance. And, with this loss and a greater desire for comfort, then it is TWICE as difficult to stay on a diet. Unless, of course, your health depends on loosing the pounds.
So, tell us WHAT you did for the hour of exercise? 25 minues max heart rate low impace aerobics so you did not increase your appetite? And was it more fres veg, frut, comlex carbs with fiber and a moderate protein portion you were eating? give us TWO different breakfasts, or lunches or dinner’s.
Thanks, This is from someone who only looses weight doing aerobics regularly and sticking with the internal hunger cue and found WEIGHTWATCHER”s point counting as much fun as an AUDIT by the IRS.
Ciao!

Hi all,
I am a 28-year-old female. About 3 years ago, I was a lean, mean, fat burning machine. I had recently broke up with my ex and was determined to lose 10-20 pounds to show him what he was missing out on. I lost about 20 pounds in 5 months. I went from a size 9/10 to a size 4 and my body fat dropped by 12%. To everyone that is in a hurry to lose weight 20 pounds in 4 months sounds like a long time. But it wasn’t because I gained muscle and burned fat. I did this by following the USDA Food Pyramid and working out 4-5 times a week.
Two years ago, I found love and got lazy. In a year, I gained 10 of those pounds back. By year two, I gained all of it back. In an attempt to fit into my old clothes again, I tried everything. Mesotherapy, every diet pill mentioned in magazines and on TV, Ephedra, Clenbuterol, the lemonade diet that Beyonce did for Dreamgirls and the list goes on and on.
June of this year I decided to stop damaging my heart with Clenbuterol and Ephedra and go back to my old ways. I bought 3 workout DVDs that I alternate every week. I follow the food pyramid and try to substitute fruit with my sugar cravings. As of today, I have lost 10 of the pounds and my body is building muscle, tone, and definition.
The moral of the story is, you do not need a personal trainer or some fad diet. You MUST gradually change your lifestyle. None of the get fit and thin methods you read about work. I know because I spent at least $6,000 trying them all in the last 18 months. Go to Fitness magazine.com and read all of the free and motivational information on their site. My motivation came from their free “Virtual Me” feature that allows you to enter your current weight and characteristics and your goal weight. This feature allows you to view your body at your current weight and your goal weight side-by-side. Once you se these changes you will be motivated to look that way. At least I was. My best advice is for you to start out with low realistic goals, and then move on to the long ones. You know what they say, “good things come to those that waitâ€.
I hope this helps.

Yes Janet looks fantastic, they also dont tell you that in the magizine photo they digitally touch up any imperfections that she may have had.Having my brother-in-law in the magizine bussiness lets me in on all these little secrets. They cut, chop, edit the photo til its absolutely PERFECT THAT IS HOLLYWOOD FOLKS!So work out,eat healthy, and thank GOD every day that you have a walking, working, breathing body because there are more important things in life then being a size 0!Every day that you are 6 ft.above ground is a FANTASTIC DAY!When you die and people are at your funeral,NO ONE is going to say;”Boy was she skinny”they will remember you for being a great mother, being a good friend, being a good cook, being compassionate,ect.ect.SO lets all get a CLUE…why are we so obsessed about STARS?Most of them have been married multiple times, have gone to rehab for one substance or another,or have other issues.Dont get me wrong I wouldnt mind losing 15 lbs. myself, who wouldnt?BUT THANK YOU I WILL STICK WITH BEING REGULAR!

I have tried to lost weight before and I succeeded! I lost 78 lbs. in one year time! But this is all I can say, any type of weight loss program is worthless unless you really put your heart into it and do what you must do….
