Tuna Patties Recipe

By Laura Moncur @ 5:00 am — Filed under:

A couple of weeks ago, I found this recipe online:

I was wanting something very low carb because my cravings were going out of control, so I remembered parts of the recipe and tried to make it from memory. It probably would have helped had I read the whole recipe, but I hadn’t.

So, I created Tuna Patties, which are a little different and WAY easier to make because they don’t require parchment paper, heating up the oven or almond flour.

Tuna Patties Recipe from Starling Fitness

Tuna Patties Ingredients

  • 1 can of tuna
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tsps garlic salt

Tuna Patties Directions

Tuna Patties cooking from Starling Fitness

  • Open the can of tuna and drain the water.
  • Mix together all the ingredients with your hands.
  • Create four patties by making them into hamburger shaped rounds.
  • Place all four of them in a frying pan.
  • Cook on medium heat covered.
  • DO NOT try to flip them too soon. They will fall apart if you do. Wait until they are good and brown on the bottom and some of the cheese is melting before you try to flip them.
  • Brown the other side and serve warm.
  • Save the extra patties in the fridge and you can just microwave them for 30 seconds to heat them up.

In actuality, these are really just tuna cheddar omelets, but that sounds disgusting to me. Imagining them as burger patties make them sound way more appealing. They taste like a tuna melt without the bread and one was enough to fill me up. They came out at 140 calories each, so they were a very low calorie, but filling lunch.

When you are feeling hungry, remember that you have the ability to MAKE YOUR OWN FOOD. Just go into the kitchen and start playing around. Even if you totally screw up a recipe that you saw a couple of weeks ago online, you still might have something delicious and satisfying to eat. Don’t let fear stop you from feeding yourself.
